Hi,

here's how i installed/configured RedHat Linux 7.3 to install
on the VIA EPIA C3 800 Mhz board through a networkboot installation.

Follow the guidelines inside pxeboot.pdf where initrd-via-rhine.img
should be used as the initrd.img to be placed inside
/tftpboot/X86PC/UNDI/linux-install/linux.2 .

custom-F12-boot.txt is a description/logging of how i created
the adjusted initrd-via-rhine.img .

Regards,

Robert

Allthough pxe-0.1-36.src.rpm with its daemons /usr/sbin/in.mtftpd and /usr/sbin/pxe have been used frequently, (most prominent inside several Redhat distributions like RedHat 7.3, 8.0, 9 and also inside RHEL 2.1 and 3.0) pxe-0.1-36.src.rpm has become an outdated software implementation for booting a Intel based machine using Intel PXE boot. With the release of RHEL 4 , pxe-0.1-36.src.rpm has become redundant and one should use pxelinux instead. pxelinux is a part of syslinux which is a software project maintained by H. Peter Anvin For a short HOWTO on PXELINUX see the README.txt below. total 832 -rw-r--r-- 1 crashrec klant 5063 Oct 1 07:56 custom-F12-boot.txt -rw-r--r-- 1 crashrec klant 571018 Oct 1 07:57 initrd-via-rhine.img -rw-r--r-- 1 crashrec klant 155 Oct 1 08:03 MD5SUM -rw-r--r-- 1 crashrec klant 233891 Oct 1 07:57 pxeboot.pdf -rw-r--r-- 1 crashrec klant 13434 May 20 20:23 README.txt
